Where should I eat in Naples, FL?
I am coming down to Naples, FL for a conference and would like recommendations on where to eat. A "family-friendly" menu is probably NOT what I am looking for. I would just like really good food -fresh, local, perhaps sustainable. This does not need to be fine-dining (although it could be), but I would also want recs on even food-trucks, neighborhood restaurants, and small establishments. Where would you go if you were a local and really cared about ingredients? And if you have any recommendations on anything near the Naples Grand Beach Resort? THANK YOU!
I was just in Naples for 6 nights and had similar interests.
1) Angelina's-In Bonita Springs a great Italian restaurant. Best food we had. Came highly recommened from many people and we were glad we went. Excellent service and from the appetizer to the entrees to the deserts they were all great. A MUST go.
2) Chops (in downtown Naples) Outstanding steak, great side dishes and service that was terrific. Would highly recommend going. MUCH better than Capital Grille which is your typical chain steakhouse.
3) Turlte Club Near the Ritz Carlton. Fun atmosphere (it is literally on the beach). The seafood was actually very good as was the service.
4) Trulucks (downtown Naples) Food was good the service was not. We would not rush back.
We also went to M Waterfront Grille (above average not great) and as mentioned Capital Grille which was okay. Hope this helps.
You might consider Food & Thought in the Gateway Plaza at 2132 9th Street North...it's a health food store, locally owned by the Oakes family, but they have a cafe where you can order raw food entrees, vegan and vegetarian dishes; healthy AND sustainable are very much what they are about, in my opinion. I ate there a few months ago and my friend and I both adored what we had.
Probably any of the Jane's cafe locations would be good too as michelito also suggests.
My all time Naples favorite is Kelly's Fish House, right on US41 at the Gordon River Bridge. They have their own boats and have been in business since the early 50s. Locally owned and operated. Best of the best!
For great Cuban, try Fernandez the Bull on Airport Road. Great chicken and pork!
Neither is fancy nor pricey, just good eats.
