80th Bday Party Dinner - Need Recs

We are in the midst of planning an 80th birthday dinner for our aunt and are having a hard time coming up with the perfect place. We are group of 12 - 15, ranging in age from 12 to 80. We are all adventurous eaters. Our vision of the place has us sitting at a large round table, with really good food, served family style or otherwise designed for sharing. We are open to Asian, Italian, Middle Eastern, Contemporary American, etc. The cuisine isn't that important as long as the food is good and the atmosphere is festive. A nice wine list is a must though.

We don't need a private room, but some seclusion would be nice so we can be a bit raucous if we want without disturbing other diners.

Location needs to be reasonably accessible from Newton, Arlington and Belmont. Boston proper is fine as long as there is parking nearby.

Thanks for your help.

    1. Gran Gusto in Cambridge fits the bill. I have seen them create a long table for larger parties.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will check it out.

          • Fu Loon in Malden just won Best of Boston Chinese (deservedly)...they have a private-ish (not completely sealed off, but towards the back, I think with glass walls) room and handle large parties all the time. Really fun food for sharing. Atmosphere is not that exciting, though.

That you for the suggestion. Fu Loon sounds great for food but may not be "special" enough for this occasion.

                • Blue Ginger in Wellesley has several private rooms and also could accomodate you in the dining room.

                    1. How about Dali in Cambridge? My 93 year old mom loves the place. Festive is definitly the word to describe Dali. Order lots of tapas.
