Bob's Taco Station, Rosenberg?

  • 3

This has been mentioned in several threads recently - Christmas tamales, breakfast tacos, machaca - and I see it's going to be on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives next Monday. I guess I've passed it many times when heading through Rosenberg but never realized it was anything special.

The website says homestyle Tex-Mex but it looks more like south of the border fare to me but home-made flour tortillas, corn on request? I take it these are not crispy, fried taco shell tacos which would be what Tex-Mex tacos are to me.

Anybody with more experience care to weigh in on the offerings.

  1. They are plain old south Texas/Tex-Mex breakfast tacos, wrapped in fresh, hot flour tortillas, with a variety of fillings, and they are great. They're very popular in my Richmond office for early morning meetings! As for their tamales, my husband took some to work a few weeks ago and one of his colleagues, who is from Mexico, said they were the best tamales he'd had since leaving home.

thats a typical varity of breakfast tacos in most SC texmex joints...

now add the lunch tacos of puffy, crispy, soft beef and chicken, fajitas, carne de puerco, carnitas, pastor...

BTW Country sausage is Kielbasa not ground pork or chorizo...ground pork is just listed as sausage...

Country guisado is diced kielbasa in a gravy wirth tomato and onion...

and that picture of soup on the website is texmex caldo de rez...mmmm

      1. I had breakfast at Bob's New Year's Eve morning. Machacada was decent, refried's were ok, potato's were french fry cut. On a scale of 1 to 5 I give the meal a 2. The french fry's were the deal breaker to me.
On a trip there this past summer I had the Chorizzo breakfast taco's. Again on a 1 to 5 they were also a 2. Chorrizo just didn't have any "zing".
