Non-Pork Ramen (And Maybe Curry)

Hi,

I was wondering if there were any good ramen spots in NYC that use non-pork broth that I could try. Also, as a side-note, any good Japanese curry spots that use a non-pork base as well? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  1. Sapporo in midtown has a couple vegetarian soup options (see #4)

    1. Minca and Kambi have both chicken and vegetable broths. I've had the vegetarian ramen at Minca and the seafood ramen at Kambi (they used to have different menus). Both were just okay - Minca's a little better - and I haven't been back to either.

The downtown branch of Menkui Tei often has non-pork ramen on their specials menu. I like the midtown branch more, though.

I was at the midtown Menkui Tei about 3 hours ago! I had the only non-pork option on the menu! I was thinking exactly the same thing as the original poster.

I didn't know there was another Menkui Tei... thanks, I'll have to check it out.

      2. Thanks guys! Can't wait to try =)

        1. Suoen offers ramen and curry that is, I believe, organic and vegetarian. And I don`t believe that Setagaya Ramen`s signature broth contains pork either- but you should ask. Many of the catch-all Japanese places probably make chicken/ vegetable only ramen as a menu offering but I doubt any are good. Above two might be your best bets.
