San Francisco Bay Area

Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in the SF Bay Area (including Berkeley, Oakland, Napa, Sonoma, Marin, and San Jose)

Looking for late-night dining in San Jose

I'm headed to the Bay Area for the Fancy Food Show next week, and am trying not to waste a single meal. I land at SJO on Friday around 9:30 p.m. and -- since my flight leaves from there at dawn Monday morning -- am staying at The Montgomery. While I plan to spend the bulk of the weekend in SF, exploring suggestions culled from this board, is there any chance of my doing any memorable eating in San Jose on Friday night?

Thanks in advance. Y'all make us Southern hounds seem sated.

    1. i don't know if you're willing to drive to downtown Mountain View (about 15 minutes north of san jose airport) but Fu Lam Mum is open till midnight and has a discounted menu after 9pm...popular chinese spot.

I'm not sure I'd call it a destination, though. There's got to be a good korean place open later.

I loved my one meal at Sumiya, quite reasonable prices, and you can order a lot or a little. Be sure to get a res, it fills up fast and has a line after 9pm.

                        • San Jose unfortunately isn't a late night type of place. One of the best spots downtown is Mezcal, an excellent Oaxacan Mexican restaurant just a few blocks from the hotel. They're open until 11 pm, so if you get out of the airport to your hotel quickly, you might be able to make it. (Do be sure your flight is going to SJC in California, not SJO in Costa Rica.)
