Need Asian restaurant for 30 visiting Japanese executives

I have to book an Asian restaurant that has either a private room or we can take over a section of the restaurant for 30-40 Japanese executives that would do a set menu under $80 and hopefully that includes a drink or two.

Within 5 minutes cab ride from Union Square would be great. Doesn't have to be ChinaTown. We used Bong Su in the past -something along those lines would be great.

Bushi-tei? You could probably take over the whole restaurant. Might be pushing the $80 limit though, but worth looking into.

Bushi-tei is fantastic, and will impress your business friends.
True, $80 is pushing it, but I bet that with a group of 30, you can work out something ahead.

We did a group function @ Ozumo down near the Ferry Building, but if memory serves it was over $80/person (I think it was more like $90) without drinks. But it was very nice. I noticed that Heaven's Dog has some options in your price range...

Would Slanted Door work? They have rooms off to the side, but I don't know the actual capacity.

-- Shanghai 1930
-- Nihon Whiskey Lounge? you should call and see if they can accomodate, I think they sometimes close for private parties on Sunday and/or Monday.
-- Seoul Garden
-- ?? Empress of China ?? (I stopped in here for a drink last week, I have no idea how the foo d is, but the drink was great, the place is very old school, full of pics from people taken in the 1970s...)

But not as sad as the day they closed Kiku of Tokyo -- that was a favorite of mine, and would also have been perfect for this dinner...

We did that one 3 years ago. It was too hard to break down the crabs with everybody in suits and people being so formal with good manners (Japanese), so most people left the crabs and were hungry afterwards.
