Recommendations for good food and live music?
Hey Chowhounds,
I am hoping for a recommendation for a resto, or lounge that has good food and live music..
Thanks in advance

The Rex does not have great food but has very great music and very passable food, and a great buzz.

re: haggisdragon
Agreed-the Rex rocks. But I (and other Jazz heads) get SUPER annoyed with people who don't understand the no talking rule during a performance. A bunch of hipsters recently ruined an experience there for my SO because they just wouldn't SHUT UP. So, if you want to drink, eat and chat it up, this may not be the place for everyone.

Sopra... from the people behind Mistura (so the food is good!). www.sopra.ca
There is a piano lounge at Jacob & Co. steakhouse, but I haven't been.
The Fifth also claims to have a live piano/jazz group.
I think there is still a piano lounge downstairs at Centro too.Harlem has music upstairs (although I think you usually tend to higher-end spots).

re: Rabbit
Thanks Rabbit,
Didn't think of the Fifth. Unfortunately, we went out on Monday. Nothing is really open on Mondays. Lol. We ended up in Sukho Thai, and decided to search for a bar in the area...hmm, that was a bad idea. A homeless guy pointed us to a random bar...so we bought him a drink before downing our shots and quickly leaving.

re: stonedtoronto
From Sukho Thai you could have wandered east on Queen St to The Dominion. Better yet, you could have dined at Fusilli which is a stone's throw from The Dominion. Too cold to waste time these days.

HoP. No music. Nasty servers unless you're a regular. I never recommend it.
On a Sunday night, though, they do live jazz at The Cobourg on Parliament just south of Winchester. Now there's a place that knows how to treat their paying customers.

re: Splendid Wine Snob
I've lived in the nabe for 18 years, not that it's been around as long as I have. If there's a day/time/server correlation I've yet to find it. I still dine there once a year despite the complete jerk service I've received. I really make an effort to support my neighbourhood dontcha know. Nothing ever changes. You're a regular, with regulars, or you're a schmuck. Who needs it?
