Lunch spots near MOCA and the Hammer museums?

cortez Jan 2, 2010 01:19 PM

I'll be in LA in two weeks for some cultural tourism with special attention to art museums. For my visit to the MOCA on South Grand, any fun and delicious lunch spot within walking distance? Same question for the Hammer Museum in Westwood.

Thanks for your recommendations.

For The Hammer Museum, I'll throw out two options:

    1) Fresh Corn Grill. Simple little lunch/dinner spot (closed Sundays), tiny, order at counter, but amazingly fresh and delicious. I'd say it's a secret place except it isn't -- it's often really crowded.

    2) Shamshiri. Persian food, fun, friendly, nice atmosphere, HUGE portions.

Both are walking distance *southward* on Westwood.

In Westwood, Yamato for Japanese. I love Spoc's Sausage Stand on Gayley. The burger at Novel Cafe, O'Haras, or In-N-Out.
