Let's start the new year with great thai food.....nominations for the best thai in phoenix/scottsdale

1. Swaddee thai (mesa, not scottsdale)
2. Thai hut (mcdowell/3rd st)
3. Osho thai (FLW)

By the way, if anyone can recommend great thai places in north scottsdale, it would cut down my driving to the east valley significantly :)

My vote is for Nunthaporn's Thai Cuisine in mesa. Coming from the bay area, i think their Thai is as good (and as hot) as many of the spots up there. I have only eaten at the following in the valley, so i might be wrong

    Swaddee (chandler & scottsdale)
Thai basil (was good when it first opened)
    Thai elephant (decent)
    lemongrass
siamese cat (not good at all)
    Benjarong
    takeda's
    malees
    totties
    thai house (scottsdale)
    Yupha's
    Thai Rama (inconsistent)

Totties is near Hayden and Thomas, in the same strip mall as Sonic. It used to be called Shanghai Palace. I guess there is a second location around Scottsdale and Lincoln, but, I haven't been there. I was a regular at the original location, when I lived in that neighborhood.

I have been very happy with the food at Sala Thai (32nd st/north of Shea) and Takeda's (Scottsdale and Shea).

I will second the nomination of Sala Thai. It doesn't hurt that it is only a mile away from the casa.

I agree that Sala is great.

I also have always loved Krua Thai in the North Valley (which may not be too far from North Scottsdale).

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (I have recommended this place a lot in previous posts, but I just love it, and really want them to succeed), I would like to recommend Little Rangoon (which is Burmese food). Though not exactly Thai, their dishes are similar in many respects. Their curries, and noodle dishes are some of the best I have had in the valley.

Thanks. I will definitely try little rangoon...was a fan of khao swe in college, but somehow never came across any burmese places
