Brief Bouchon Report
Went NYE...early...great room, spacious and festive...service was top notch...maybe best I've ever had in LA.
As for food...everything was terrific...beet salad, duck confit, chicken, salmon and deserts...wine by carafe was delicious and a relative bargain...rr beer on tap very refreshing, if not quite up to pliny the elder. None of the food was particularly inventive...but rather very well executed twists on french bistro classics.
tab was 240 with tip for two adults, a twelve and five year old.
my ultimate measuring stick of a restaurant is how i feel when paying the bill...in bouchon's case, it was money well spent and would gladly do again.
could not have picked a better place for NYE!
i shall return.
PS. Compared to Church&State/Comme Ca/Annisette, there is none. The entire experience is much more refined and high end. Amazing considering that the prices are virtually the same at all locations.
Thomas Keller is a class act when he does something. Bouchon is a must for everyone.
I have been eating from day one at the one in Yountville and eaten at French Laundry and
Per Se his food melts in your mouth, the service and the ambience is well worth
