I'm looking for a good bakery where I can get "authentic" Portuguese custard tarts in the Laval area.

These are also called "natas" and you will find other theads about them on this board.

There is a Portuguese community in Laval: there is a church there that has community festivals in the summer: http://www.leseglisesdemonquartier.co... in Chomedey; perhaps there are Portuguese bakeries thereabouts.

There's a bakery on St Martin close to autoroute 13 which makes some good ones. Unfortunately I can't remember the name, but if you know the area, i'm sure you'll find it!

I have not tried this place yet but I think you are referring to ...

        4385, boul Saint-Martin O, Laval, QC H7T 1C5

I know this thread is really old but S Miguel is really great.
Their tarts are simply amazing and inexpensive.

Brazas in Vieux Sainte-Rose has some good ones. It is a restaurant but they have a glass case full of them and you can probably just ask them to go. I prefer the ones at S Miguel but my friends who are Portuguese insist that the ones at Brazas are more authentic.

Thanks to Silvertint & Nextguy .... I have recently moved from Quebec to Ontario, but on my next visit to La Belle Province, I will definitely try out both places. Thanks for the info!!
