Danville VA

Any ideas for a good lunch spot in Danville on Saturday? Nothing upscale, just good food.

    We ate at Joe and Mimma's about 12 years ago, and it was good. I didn't know if it was still there until I read this posting.

      Too late for lunch today, but Joe & Mimma's Italian restaurant on Riverside Shopping Center is a reasonable non-chain possibility.

        Short Sugar's Barbecue on the main drag through town, Rt. 460. It has it's detractors when it comes to discussions about the different types of 'Q out there, but I had lunch there just this past Oct. '09 and enjoyed it. Very popular place with locals. It's a woodburner, too.

          Is Mary's cafeteria still open? That was a classic.

            Mary's is still there. I'd routinely stop by on bi-monthly drives from Durham to Charlottesville. Nothing but a standard meat-n-three. After about a dozen visits, still trying to convince myself it's any better than K&W Cafeteria. but it's something...
