Grill Pan Tips?

I received a Calphalon "two-burner" grill pan for Christmas. My wife convinced me to use it for the first time, last night, with lamb chops (2"). It was not a good experience! After the usual 12 minutes I am accustomed to sauteing them, they were still raw in the middle, and the bone end was totally uncooked. I had the pan over medium-high heat. Couple of questions. Did I picked the wrong food to cook on this pan? What heat levels are best and what foods are best for this pan?
