Restaurant Row Pre-Show Lunch

My mother and I are headed into the city for a show, and we'd like to do lunch on Restaurant Row. She likes Italian and French cuisine, but it's hard to get real information just looking on the internet. Can anyone suggest a must-eat place?

BECCO on 46 street. Italian food.

Yes, it is on Restaurant Row, but... I have said many times on this board that I would not recommend Becco for several reasons. 1. The ayce pastas are mediocre. 2. They have jammed as many tables into each room as possible, making seating uncomfortably sardine-tight. 3. The noise level is so hideously high that shouting is required in order to carry on a conversation.

The o.p. now says that this is for Sunday afternoon. Barbetta is closed on Sunday.

Though it's not on Restaurant Row, I would recommend Trattoria Trecolore, one block away on 47th..

When/what day of the week? Cuisine? Price ceiling INCLUDING tax, tip, and drinks/wine?

Many places book up in advance, and I highly recommend making reservations or else you'll risk missing your curtain time.

Thanks, Kathryn. She'd like French or Italian, and it'll be a Sunday afternoon lunch, probably around noon.

We don't really have a price ceiling.
