Restaurant/diner by the Penobscot River bridge (Fort Knox, Maine)?

When I was younger, my mother and i traveled to Maine every summer to visit relatives. On the way home, we always stopped at a small roadside restaurant for brunch after we crossed the old Fort Knox bridge. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of it, and it's driving me crazy. It's on the left on Route 1, just after you cross over the bridge, and has a great view of the river. Anyone know the place I'm talking about?

  1. The Sail Inn Diner (or Resto.). The owners recently won a law suit from thr State of Maine for increased compensation when the restaurant was condemned for the new bridge construction. I'm happy that your memories of the place are good. We unfortunately had some really bad grub there, for which the great view did not compensate.

Thanks, that's it. :) Sorry to hear that it's no longer there and that the quality had gone downhill over the years.

And thanks for the welcome...have really been enjoying reading all of the threads here. Hard to tear myself away!

On Rt 1 in Searsport (Stockton Springs) is Just Barb's, no view, but good grub.
