Max's Tavern at the Barnard Inn
Six of us had an excellent dinner here this week. Standouts included the foir gras pate, the pork loin, the spinach salad w tarantaise cheese, and superb onion rings. Menu runs the gamut from a basket of french fries to rack of lamb sourced from a local farm. Portions are enormous, prices fair, the room cozy, the wine list rife with interesting, wellpriced choices, service friendly, and the local brown ale on tap very tasty. Heartily recommended - food better and less expensive than at Simon Pearce or our old favorite - The Prince and the Pauper.
