Where Can I Find Manioca So I Can Make Farofa for My Feijoada?
I haven't been able to find manioc flour to make farofa. Does anyone know where I can get some? Brooklyn or Manhattan preferable, though I'm sure most answers will be Queens.
Is there something I could use as a substitute?
Also, does anyone have a killer recipe?
Thanks

I've seen it in the Trade Fair off Broadway in Astoria and at Seabras in Newark. Haven't noticed it elsewhere, but if it must be Manhattan, your best bet would be to check with Kalustyan's as they seem to have every known grain/lentil/root product.

Kalustyan's! Of course! I was just there last week, why didn't I think of it?
thanks

There's a large Brazilian population in Astoria. In addition to the Trade Fair listed, which has a decent Brazilian section (Diet Antarctica - yum), there's a dedicated Brazilian restaurant on 36th ave, not far from the subway. I believe it's called Rio Bonito. I'd be amazed if they didn't have it.

The place I was thinkiing is simply called Rio Market, it's at 32-15 36th Avenue. Sounds like Rio Bonito is a distance further from the train. I imagine they'd both get the job done.

Rio Bonito Market in Astoria (32-86 47th St @ 34th ave) and Buzios in Manhattan (46th bet. 5/6 Aves).
