New Year's Eve with a toddler

We are spending the New Year's Eve day in Manhattan with our toddler -- hitting the predictable places, Rockefeller Center, the Disney store and FAO Schwartz. We want to do a 5pm dinner in midtown, preferably near FAO Schwartz. I really don't want to compromise on food quality, but I also don't want to bring my 2 year old boy to a place where kids are not welcome. Virtually any kind of food is fine with us, maybe with the exception of Japanese/sushi. And we would prefer not to spend over $150 for the three of us (my husband, my son and I). I have been doing alot of research (including searching the archives of this site) and have found a few restaurants that people recommend:

La Bonne Soupe
Pop Burger
Rosa Mexicano

I realize that those are three very different kind of restuarants, but we are definitely open -- the key is good food, noisy atmosphere that won't frown at a child and maybe even a little festive (since it is New Year's Eve). I appreciate all suggestions! Thanks in advance!

  1. Rosa Mexicano looks like a great choice you may want to look at BLT Market on Central Park South or maybe Dizzy's Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center the view is amazing.

      1. Thanks for the suggestions! I have never heard of a few of those restaurants -- they look great! However, we ended up making reservations at 5pm at Rosa Mexicano. They have a kids menu and I figured that its a fun environment. Plus, they have their regular menu on NYE, which is a plus. I will let everyone know how it goes!
