ISO of Affordable Beef Bones for Stock

I was appalled to see beef bones for $3.99/lb at Stop & Shop last week. I was hoping to make stock but starting with $20 worth of bones wasn't in my plans. Is there a more affordable source of bones I should check out? I live in Newton but would travel for a good deal.

  1. Super 88 in Brighton or Mayflower Poultry in cambridge - both have beef marrow bones for around 1.49 - 1.99 a pound.

    1. I am not sure of the exact price but I periodically buy beef bones for my dogs at Market Basket and I would not if they were more than $2/#, if that. You might call H-Mart, which is right off 128 in Burlington. I have yet to go there, since the parking lot has been packed each time I tried since their September opening. Apparently weekday mornings are best.
