Looking for Himalayan Rose Salt in the SF Bay Peninsula Area

K K Dec 27, 2009 04:28 PM

Last week in Taipei, I had a spectacular bowl of beef noodle soup (a clear broth stewed version). Long story short, the restaurant uses 1.5 kilos of ox bones to make 1 serving of pure milky bone broth (parallel to tonkotsu ramen) but no MSG, no beef bone powder, no artificial flavoring. For seasoning provide a shaker of a nice fragrant Himalayan Rose Salt which was the perfect addition to the bowl.

Was wondering if anyone knows where one can buy Himalayan Rose Salt in the SF Peninsula (or anywhere between San Mateo to Cupertino)? If it is only available in SF city I'd be curious to know where else as well, thanks in advance.

I got some pretty chunks of Himalayan pink salt from a bulk bin at Whole Foods in RWC, I think, a couple of months back. Maybe Cupertino has it too?

If you get really desperate, they have it at the Pasta Shop in Berkeley.

I've seen it at at various Whole Foods. Rainbow Grocery in SF has it. You could probably get it somewhere or another on the net, too.

Yeah the specimen I saw was light pink. I'll check my local WF when I come back. Thanks y'all.
