Small Reception (40-50 guests) in Santa Monica

I'm sorry for having to ask again, seeing that there are probably around 300 posts about wedding receptions! But I was hoping there'd be newer input! :) I'm not very familiar with the area.

I plan to get married at the St. Monica Church and I was looking for places where they hold receptions for a small party ( I'm not going to need a very big space; no dancing for me!!). I want it to be really intimate!

I'm looking into Cafe del Rey, but are there any more suggestions? Any cuisine will do, save for Asian and Mexican (they seem too casual). I think we could do $130-150 per person (below that will be SO much better!!!).

I emailed The Victorian btw and they mentioned that they have minimums :(

Thanks so much for your time!

I think the Inn of the Seventh Ray would be perfect for your event. It is a romantic garden setting and would be well within your budget.

Chez Mimi would be lovely. They have a terrific space, great staff and good food. Mimi is wonderful to work with...she'll help you make it really special.

Thanks both! I will be checking these places out. I also wanted to check out Ortolan, they seem very hmm,,, approachable? They reply fast to emails.

Please do keep em coming! :)

Jiraffe has a private space on the 2nd floor that might be able to accommodate you as well - congratulations on your wedding!

Thank you, this is very helpful!!

Also, if anyone has any input regarding restaurants downtown (in case St Monica doesn't push through, I'd like to try St. Basil) please let me know! I'm looking into Cafe Pinot but they don't ever reply to emails!

i didn't want to suggest Downtown places since you said SM. but now that i know you're open to it, definitely check out Cicada and Water Grill.

respectfully disagree with the recommendation of inn of the seventh ray.
the place is stunning/gorgeous, but the service is so terrible, that some of the guests might get their food sometime after your first anniversary. imho, the food was underwhelming.
