Missing Leek Pie from Noodle House

When Noodle House in Arcadia/Santa Anita closed, my family lost one of our favorite treks for delicious Chinese. It was spectacularly unfancy, but we especially loved the Leek Pie and the hand-made noodles.

Despite the smug unreadability of the Weekly's porcine reviewer, I scan the reviews for a mention of anything like it, but nothing. Anyone know the place and found anything similar elsewhere? The owner and cook were from Tian Jin.

  1. Have you tried JTYH Restaurant? I never tried Noodle House's leek pie but JTYH has a pretty good one, and great handmade noodles.

JTYH does have good to very good leek pies. Another option is Earthen, which I think is some of the best in the east SGV.

Word to the wise, go to JTYH for knife cut noodles, not the traditional hand-made or hand-pulled noodles.

        Going this weekend folks, thanks!

      2. 101 Noodle Express has leek pie (jiu cai hezi). There are now two branches of 101 Noodle Express, the original one in Alhambra, and a new one in Arcadia, on Baldwin. I haven't ordered the leek pie there, but the dumplings and beef roll are pretty good. I believe that A&J Restaurant in Alhambra also has leek pie.

I finally got to JTYH last night. It was terrific. But no Leek Pie, not on the menu, and not when I asked. There were incredible Leek Bao, and a great scallion pancake, but no Leek Pie.

          Guess I'll try 101 next.

Got to 101, and they have the closest thing so far, called Leek and Egg Omelet. Crispier but real good.
