Best Upscale Restaurants in Downtown San Jose
Have to be near the Convention Center in San Jose. What are good upscale restaurants in that area? No Indian, Thai, or Japanese, but Italian or California or New American is great. Thanks

San Jose and upscale dining don't really go together. There are plenty of okay mid-range restaurants, chains, and some good cheap eats in and around downtown. The area is geared for business lunches, convention crowds, and sporting/entertainment events.
If you want true upscale, I recommend driving one town over (about 15 minutes away) to Los Gatos and the restaurant Manresa. This is arguably one of the best restaurants in the country. There are lots of threads about Manresa on here. They have 2 Michelin stars (if that matters to you). Check the website for more info, press clippings, and sample menus. If you like fine dining, Manresa should not be missed.
