Their website just says, "Coming Soon!" It does have the Guinness logo, so that's promising!

Here is a yelp review from last night.....I think Jessica really loved that turkey club.....

So much so as to compel her to write her first review for yelp... Should we have what she's having?? ;)

Just went and it was very good. Nothing too fancy, but reasonably priced. I had a burger, and asked for some curry for my chips, which they nicely supplied. I also had a Long Trail on tap (didn't opt for the Guiness, as I'm still recovering from one that I had last night in float form with a scoop of cherry vanilla ice cream). One of us had fish and chips which were lightly fried, and tasty. Next time I'll try shepherd's pie, or stew.

Same owners as Farragut House in South Boston, and Tommy Doyles in Newton. I believe same menus as well.
Had dinner there and loved it! Charming and warm decor as well.

Based on the yelp review and this one, it seems that the place only is attracting first time posters so far!

And what exactly are you implying, Blumie? ;-)

I hearted it so much, omg, that me and my homies are going here from now on instead of L'Espalier. Besides, their flavored vodka drinks are to die fuh. Now can you totally rate my post both cool and funny? Mick's "pints for posts" offer is only going to last so long.
The place is actually not bad, and while I have yet to go to O'Hara's (which I hear is excellent) it's nice to have a decent pub in the area.

Are you for real? I went last week and thought it was dreadful. To even put it into the same category with L'Espalier is outrageous. The service stinks. The servers hand you the plates instead of placing them in front of you. The food was very very average. I had the corned beef sandwich and my husband had the burger. Not good. The hamburger was so scary looking that my husband who loves burgers was afraid to eat it. Looked like something you would be served on a plane. It was a peppercorn burger. I felt badly for him so I gave him half of my sandwich. The fires are frozen steak fries. All night long we had the taste of that food in our system and we kept saying to each other. Never again. Oharas is much much better.

I think you severely missed the sarcasm of Nsenada's post.

I don't think there was any sarcasm involved, Prav. No fewer than 3 people have told me that this place is indeed as good as L'Espalier. ;-)

I need to meet this Jessica chick and figure out what kind of turkey sandwich she's on...er, eating.

I keep driving by this place and was wondering if it might be a good alternative to O'Haras. Obviously-it is not :-). Ill stick to my O'Hara's Paddys visits. Are they still opening a third spot? I cant remember where/what I heard about that possibility.

I dunno - I thought it was pretty good, and given that some weekends it's impossible to get in to the popular joints, I think I'll put it into the category of "places near home where I know I'll be able to get a table, and the food will not be horrible." Though who knows, perhaps it will be overrun by yelpers soon. I put Mandarin Cuisine in that category as well. It's also early to judge yet, they've only been open a few weeks.

Ok - I am at O'Hara's now, and while I am seated at possibly the worst spot I've ever eaten at, getting banged into every time the kitchen door opens, the food does indeed blow the doors off of Mick Morgan's. I just had an amazing burger, really flavorful and handmade. My son had a fried fish sandwich that I snuck a piece of - really great fry job. The wait and crappy table still keep Mick Morgan's on the list.

I love O'hara's for what it is. Wish it were closer to home for me.

for the record - that tommy doyles in newton is the closest place to my house and i avoid it like swine flu. never mind the food - even the beer tastes bad (dirty tap lines). worst service ever - even if you're at the bar. i'd rather "dine" at the dunkin donuts down the street.

Three of us had a pleasant dinner there last night. They've done a nice job of redecorating, post-Mexican.
I'd call it acceptable pub food, from the lower end of the menu.
We had, among us, a Banner Burger, a Shepherd's Pie and a Crab Cake "burger." We all cleaned our plates, and shared a Deep Fried Cheesecake for dessert, which was like a giant blintz with whipped cream and strawberry sauce.
We didn't try the higher-end specials, so I have no opinion to offer. But it was a good quick meal, the service was excellent, and we'll probably go back. Putting Morgan's into our dinner rotation probably says as much about quick meals available within easy distance of Newton Center, where we were all headed, as it does about MM's.

While it sounds like the food is very Average, can anyone tell me if it is family friendly? Our kiddos are almost 2...and it is close to our house, so we would like to try it. We're more interested in the fact that we won't have to do the dishes, than if the food is excellent.... (I know, our standards have dropped, but dinner with Tots is a challenge!) A meal at L'espalier is a nearly a week of childcare!

The bar is on the right of the entrance and the restaurant is on the left. There are plenty of booths. You should be OK.

Yes, it is a pretty comfortable layout for kids

They have a basic kids' menu, the usual sort of stuff.
You're all set.

OldChef does not sound mad at all. Maybe he is an old well seasoned chef who knows his food. You Bosco have never written before. This is your only post. "to die for" you might be right!

alright, i've got two strikes against me. 1) first time post. 2) haven't been to mick morgans.............................................but that hasn't stopped me in the past, so here goes. file under "what the hell do you expect!?!?!" irish pub in newton....possibly an oxymoron that could nudge "jumbo shrimp" out of first place. i was invited to meet some folks there tonite; that prompted the search, and here i am, pretty sure i won't be attending, once i decided it would, most probably, mirror doyles. what i want tonite is a cobb salad! any tips?

To die for? Really?

Note that the "to die for" comment came from a poster who never previously had posted and has posted nothing since, leading me to conclude that the meal the poster reported on is the only meal s/he ever has eaten.

I actually know that poster, it was her first exposure to solid food.
