Boudin Noir / Blood Sausage in Quebec City

Things have changed in this hometown of mine... I can't seem to find what I am looking for anymore. Seems like bouding noir/ blood sausage is hard to find. I am not talking about the generic Bilopage boudin from the supermarket, but the artisan/hand made sausages from specialty food shops. Any idea where to find it?

Any idea where the boudin noir from Au Cafe du Clocher Penche is from? I seem to remember that it is from somewhere around Montreal.

  1. Hey

Cannot comment on Clocher Penché's but I have 2-3 suggestions for you to find Boudin noir: maybe l'épicerie Européene (on St-Jean in st-jean baptiste), Part du Lion (a butcher's shop in the Lebourneuf neighborhood around Costco and the like)...
If ever you feel like a drive, there is a little charcuterie shop in Vallée Jonction called Le Pied de cochon...the owner is a guy from bretagne, they have boudin noir and boudin blanc...but that's 35 minutes outside Quebec.
Before you go there, you can try to call places like Picardie, Nourcy, and Moisan maybe you can be lucky?

    Good luck

    1. I just found out about a great little butcher that uses local organic meats to make bondin noir. They also have a small restaurant and catering company: Pied Bleu Charcutier-Traiteur at 179 Rue Saint-Vallier O, Québec, QC G1K 1J9
