West Houston covers a very big area. How far out?
Phoenicia has a small seafood case; not a huge selection but some things you probably won't find in the average supermarket or WF.
Some of the supermarkets in China Town carry lots of seafood. I'm not familiar with them but some others here will be.

Yeah good point - I should have been more specific. However, Phonenicia is right by me (apparently) so I'll check it out. Thanks!

Louisiana Foods on W 12th just outside the 610 Loop sells fish to restaurants, and they have a small storefront retail operation with limited hours, 10-3 Monday thru Friday. Not much fish is on display, but they have a board with daily listings which is quite extensive. They also have a variety of items like crab cakes, which are excellent, ettoufees and gumbos, avoid the shrimp, go for the chicken and sausage. They have some frozen items available which can be purchased same day, as well as oysters and shrimp. Items like alligator, soft shell crabs, fresh ettoufees, and crab cakes can be ordered a day ahead of time. The also have boiled shrimp daily for pick-up, plus a small cooked food section with fried chicken, excellent catfish, boudain, and daily specials to go until the food runs out. Check out their website, Louisiana Foods.com. Give it a try.

Dr Greer - not sure how far west (or north) you are, but the HEB at I-10 and Bunker Hill has a VERY respectable seafood department, and if you want your fish still swimming, try the 99 Ranch market at I-10 and Blalock.
