Stecchino @ 52nd & Ninth
Interested to hear a food report from people who have visited. I went tonight for drinks and found the place inviting and comfortable.

I haven't found any other reviews of Stecchino on CH. Five of us ate there last night, and despite the generic appearance of the place, we were impressed with the food and the esprit d'corps of the staff. In particular, I loved my rare as ordered salmon atop sauteed Brussels sprouts and the Bibb salad with a delicious prosecco vinaigrette, albeit with mealy, defrosted poached shrimp. My friend was raving about her "Cuban sandwich" (which was not at all authentic, and resembled more of a roast pork sandwich).
All the servers we encountered, whether knowledgeable about the food or not, seemed to enjoy working there. The bartenders were also friendly and reportedly turn out interesting cocktails (we didn't indulge).
I don't want to oversell the place, but I'll be happy to come back. The seating is comfortable and well-spaced by Manhattan standards. And a good attitude goes a long way.

Thanks for the review, DF!
Thinking of going there for dinner next week. Just wondering if anyone has visited more recently and can offer a review ...?

I was there once for brunch and once for dinner early this year / late last year. I recall having enjoyed both meals. Both my boyfriend and I liked the PEI Mussels with Garlic White Wine & Tomato Broth. The staff, as far as I remember, were friendly and helpful.

Thanks, Cheeryvisage. We ended up going to Pappardella, based on convenience. Will definitely keep Stecchino in mind for another dinner.
