Wedding/Reception site in Tri-State area for 500 guests

Hey all,

We recently got engaged and are hoping to get married in Aug/Sept 2010 in the tri-state area, ideally not more than 45 minutes from Manhattan. It'll be a huge Indian wedding with at least 500 guests, which limits our options considerably. If anyone has recs on places in the area that can accommodate people up to $130/per person (food; 5 hr open bar) incl. tax and gratuity, I would appreciate it!

Thanks in advance.

I know the Nicotra Ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island is really nice and is within your price range. Congratulations!!

        Congratulations on your engagement!

Try Leonard's of Great Neck or The Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn.

I haven't been to either of these venues in a few years, but believe that they will fit your requirements re: $$, capacity and location.

        Enjoy the planning!

I had Friends and family that got married at Leonards of Great Neck and they paid WAY over $130 a person.

There are a few highly rated halls that can hold your very large questlist but many of them are way over your price range. The only ones I can think of in Northern Jersey that can handle the size of your party and are in your price range are The Royal Manor in Garfield, The Bethwood in Totowa and The Sheraton of Mahwah. The only one i have been too is the Bethwood and I think they do a nice job but i have only been to smaller events there.

Out of your 45 minute specification, but large enough and in your price range and with a special "Indian wedding" package is the Danbury Plaza in Danbury, CT.

Have you thought about the Rye Town Hilton? I know they have done weddings for up to 700 ppl. Not sure how much per head. Also, the Greenwich Hyatt does a fabulous job and can certainly accommodate a very large crowd. Good luck!
