Searching for Barbecue Sauce Recipe from south central georgia
I can't find a definitive source for a regional barbecue sauce, it's mustard and vinegar based with some tomato. (orangey color - more mustard than tomato) From the vicinty of Fitzgerald, Ocilla, Nashville, Douglas ...
I think that this topic is better suited for the Home Cooking board but what I have for you
is a report of a recipe I made from Bon Appetit Y'All by Virginia and it has all the ingredients you mentioned. IIRC the color *Is* somewhat orangey:
1. Mama's Barbecue Sauce, Pg. 285
I halved the recipe.... we loved this sauce and I can see using it on chicken and other meats as well.
Unsalted butter, ketchup, finely chopped sweet onion, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire, Dijon, brown sugar, Kosher salt & FGBpepper are all combined in a saucepan, brought to the boil, then simmered for about 30 minutes. Once again, taste for seasoning and add more S & P if necessary. Ms. Willis says it will last for months covered in a fridge and indeed we do have some leftover which I'm sure will be gone by the end of the week.
As you can see, it was Very easy. And tasty!
Here's the link to the full report...it was a component of
Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Mama's Barbecue Sauce.
