Geppi's New Haven - Gone!
In spite of living in New Haven, I seldom drive down lower Grand Ave. Today, by chance, I had to be in the area and noticed that Geppi's was no longer there. While never one of my top choices, the food was dependably good and consistent. It's strange that the closing of such a long time fixture in the area generated no buzz. The replacement in their space is what apparently is a Latin American restaurant. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name.

Yes, very sad. I believe they closed about a year ago. Not sure if it was a result of the economic climate. They had to be in business a good 25 years or so. My father was a carpenter and built the bar in the restaurant when they opened. From what I heard they had a loyal following of regulars.
