Looking for Suggestions in West Edmonton for Tomorrow Night

I just received a call advising that my brother will be in town overnite tomorrow and we are to head out for dinner.

Since he is staying at the Marriott at the River Cree Resort we are looking for a place in the "real" west end as that will be closer and involve less driving for him as well as us since we are close to the Henday.

He was in town a few weeks ago and we ate at Sage so are not interested in it and besides, it is not Wine Wednesday either which was the thing we enjoyed the most there.

I personally am not interested in going to my "usual haunts" so any of the CFD chains that dominate this area as well as Chop, Sorrentino's, Cactus Club Cafe, Koutouki Ouzeria are out. I have read about the restaurant in the Mayfield Inn but prefer to stay a little more south than that if at all possible.

I had lunch at GURU last week and enjoyed it very much but I am not sure that the Indian cuisine would work for my wife who is dealing with a sensitive tummy right.

I would have preferred to avoid the "pre-Xmas Madness" at WEM, but L2 is a place where we have not yet been. I have read a couple of good reviews of L2. Has anyone else been? I cannot seem to locate their menu on-line.

Thank you for any suggestions.

  1. I don't know about L2.. But if you're in the area and decide against it, you might consider Red Piano. They have something for everyone, from alligator bites to fresh buttermilk onion rings. They don't have shows on Wednesdays, so there won't be a cover charge, but I'd like to think that they would have something 'special' going on for entertainment during dinner. Even if it's just better-than-the-average-restaurant piano music playing through the speakers.

Thanks for the suggestion ScottP but we ended up deciding on L2 after getting them to email me a copy of their menu.

The menu looks a tad dated but it could be interesting to see how they do things.

Now, looking out my office window if his airplane arrives we should be o.k.
