Diamond Dairy NYC

  • 5

Sadly, this diamond of a restaurant recenntly closed after 60 years. It will be sorely missed by those who enjoyed homemade delicious (hungarian) food in a very unpretensious setting.
I guess its just a sign of the times.

  1. Diamond Dairy was a quintessential New York experience, where you could have fresh blintzes and a great omelet while watching the jewlery dealers open their stalls on the floor below. When I think of Diamond Dairy and Ratners it makes me sad - I miss them. Why did they close?

Looks like it was over a rent dispute, according to the NY Post.

    2. Makes me very disappointed never to have gone. Somehow, I wasn't aware of its stature.

Does anyone remember the original owners of Diamond Dairy? Watching M/M Adler scream at each other in Hungarian added to ambiance of the place. Will miss the heimishe atmosphere of years gone by.

      2. Unbelievable! Isn't there anything we can count on anymore???
