dessert near Fifth Ave or Yorkville

Need to end the day with a little dessert. Our family of four are coming into town to go to the Guggenheim tomorrrow, then out to Brooklyn for an early dinner at Peter Luger, returning to Fifth Avenue to look at the windows then back to 86th Street to pick up the car.
Can anyone recommend a place to get in from the cold and have a little dessert either on 5th Ave. or in the vicinity of Lex and 86th? Does not need to be fancy.

I had dessert at Andre's Hungarian this past weekend, just because Two Little Red Hens was closed, the cheesecake was yummy!

I agree w Two LIttle Red Hens, but I don't think they have inside seating? The Brooklyn Blackout is still worth a stop in, I've been dreaming of it since my last visit. Chocolate, moist cupcake filled with chocolate pudding. Mmmm! :)

Two Little Red Hens has 2 or 3 tables inside.

the problem is that some of the best places close late afternoon/early evening (La Maison du Chocolat and Francois Chocolate Bar, Martine's and Lady M come to mind).

but there is Cafe Sabarsky - 5th Avenue @ 86th - and it's a CH favorite. there's also Le Pain Quotidien on Madison b/w 84th & 85th, or if you like crepes, a place called Yorkville Creperie on York @ 84th (though i have no idea if it's any good). hope that helps!

Two Little Red Hens at Lex and 86th is a great bakery with lots of yummy desserts. Only issue for you may be that they close at 8. If you're back by then, it's definitely worth a stop in. Best chocolate cupcakes and cake in NYC.
