Frank’s Philadelphia in Costa Mesa

Dan Mar 14, 2005 04:18 PM

Stumbled on this place yesterday. Great find. Wonderful little joint. Big meaty, cheese steaks, tasty fresh cut fries, friendly owner & staff. Just north of the Post Office. A large cheese steak & order of fries is a belly buster. yum

Agreed, this place has the best Philly cheesesteaks in OC. Better than most of the steaks I've had in Philly.

I'm willing to make the drive from LA if this is as good as people say it is.

While I think it's tasty, I've eaten lots of cheesesteaks in Philly, and I'm not sure Franks is special enough to drive from LA for.

It's just a sandwich shop that has good cheeseteaks. Nothign like the experience of going to Pat or Genos..

Went to Frank's tonight and came away very disappointed. I ordered the Frank's Special which is basically a cheesesteak with hot peppers. When I got home I found that there were no hot peppers that I could taste. The fries (I ordered them well done) were cooked well but had zero seasoning on them. Not even a little salt.

I've been going to John's Philly Grill and Philly's Best but decided to try Frank's based on this thread. In my opinion both other places are better.

I'd have to say that I will probably not be back. If I do go back I'll be trying a different sandwich (sausage or maybe BBQ beef).
