Ukrainian food?

I live in the Ukrainian Village, a great neighborhood. But I have not yet had any Ukrainian food. In fact, I don't even know what Ukrainian food consists of.

I am wondering if any of you know of good Ukrainian restaurants? And also if you have suggestions of what to order? Or is this a hopeless pursuit?

Thanks.

Kasia's Deli has a good selection of Ukrainian/Polish foodstuffs. Chicago and Western.

Metromix lists seven restaurants with Ukrainian food: http://chicago.metromix.com/browse/restaurants/0,63?

Not all are strictly Ukrainian; for example, they include Russian and Georgian restaurants that may have a few Ukrainian dishes on the menu. The two that do indeed specialize in Ukrainian food are Shokolad, which is more of a bakery-cafe, and Old Lviv, which is a buffet. Both are in Ukrainian Village. You can read a list of some of their specialties in their listings on Metromix.

There's a guide to Ukrainian cuisine on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainia...
