Chicago Chophouse, Calgary

AriaDream Dec 19, 2009 08:46 PM

I can't give a negative review, exactly, since I didn't get to eat there. But I made a reservation for five at 6PM for today, December 19th. When I arrived they said they had no reservation or record of any party of five and they were full. When I came home I found my opentable reservations had been cancelled at five! Far too late to find another restaurant even if they had been able to reach me. This seemed extremely unprofessional. I've sent them an e-mail asking for an explanation, we'll have to see if they respond.

We went to Nick's instead and they managed to fit us in. :) It was an excellent meal and cost at least two hundred less than the Chophouse did so it was still a good night out.

Really dodged a bullet there. I think Vickers could be found serving human flesh at his restaurants and he would still make money hand over fist.

Oh dear! I should hope not. :) Well, for my update, the response has been... nothing! And it's been three days so I'm not holding my breath in expectation of a response. I've never been treated this shabbily in my life.

I give Chicago Chophouse a negative ten in customer service and would not recommend anyone go.

I thought it was common knowledge that if you don't appear to work out 7 days a week (all 7 on your upper body) or have platinum blonde hair you are going to be treated like garbage at a vickers establishment. You dodged a bullet because the food their is awful. Belgo, Ceilis and Chophouse must have a central fry deep frying location because everything has that same 3 month old oil grease flavour.

Without salt butter and oil, the chefs at the chophouse wouldn't know what to do. I'd rather eat at the Pied Pickle.

Heh, true! I wouldn't have been as upset if the staff hadn't been so clueless about it. Just, 'oh we don't have your reservation'. It was a bit embarrassing for me since my family naturally assumed I'd made the reservations wrong. If they'd just said it was their mistake, they double booked I wouldn't have bothered to post.

Oh well. Rush and Il Sogno are my next stops. :)

I would strongly recommend Rush. I hadn't been since a very nice $300 dinner for two last year, but they have a great selection of $5 small plates in the lounge that are the equivalent of $15 apps and just great.

Strongly recommend the cured meats, the crab beignets, the smoked salmon and the tuna, enough to make a meal and 1/4 the cost of the tasing dinner.
