bacalao/salt cod in Portland?

Hi all,

I'm looking for some bacalao in Portland? I'm not sure if "salt cod" is really the same thing or if bacalao is a 'special' variety of salt cod? Anyway, any tips on where to get the 'fresh' (not the frozen kind) are really appreciated.

Yes, salt cod and bacalao are the same thing. And Newman's at CIty Market (the Pastaworks in NW) usually has some.

I think I've gotten salt cod at Pastaworks on Hawthorne in the past. I was under the impression that bacalao is the Spanish name for salt cod, but I could be wrong.
