Just how long will canned roasted red peppers last?

I was cleaning out my cabinets and found two cans of roasted red bell peppers that I had forgotten about. They have an expiration date of August 31, 2009 and I believe were canned 2 years prior to that. That's not too far behind us, but I'm still a little uncertain of anything past date. The cans look fine, and are TASTE brand which are fantastic. Do you think they are ok?

as long as the cans aren't bulging, the peppers are still safe to eat...they just may be past their prime in terms of quality. do the sniff test first, and if they smell ok, go for a taste.

unless the can is rusty or bulging, they're fine. make a roasted red pepper aioli for some fried calamari. mmmm mmm mmmmmm.
