Review of Dinner at Lenny's Clam Bar - Howard Beach

Living on Roosevelt Island we would not think of driving to Howard Beach to dine, but we are glad we had to in order take out a couple for dinenr who live near there.

To begin there is valet parking, a big plus. The other couple hadn't arrived but the hostess sat us. No "would you like to have a drink while you wait?" BS. The waiter was also very courteous and patient as our guests were 20 minutes late. I don't eat seafood so I had the stuffed mushrooms which were delicious. My wife had the baked clams which she described as "the best I've ever had. The other couple had the antipasto for two, which was copious and fresh.

For dinner i had the Chicken marsala, tender and flavorful, my wife had linguine with white clam (fresh ones, not out of the can) sauce and the other couple had Penne a la vodka (her) and linguine with red clam sauce. All agreed they were very good. Their wine list, tho small is quite reasonable.

As the portions were so huge we declined deserts in favor of some espresso.

Driving back to Roosevelt Island my wife said that we should make the trip there more often, a good rec from someone who prefers public transportation to driving.

  1. So glad you enjoyed Lenny's! As I've never ventured past the seafood, it's good to hear their other dishes are good, too. I used to be a big fan of VIncent's, just down the street, but found consistency at Lenny's to be somewhat higher. Gotta love the old school red sauce joints when they do what they do best.

Thanks for the rec. We truly enjoyed it and will return. We work at Belmont Park Racetrack, so a trip there after work for dinner isn't that bad.
