Tried a few nice suggestions and found them all to be closed on Boxing Day...making a trip especially to TO for my birthday and trying to plan a nice dinner. Any suggestions?

You'll get wildly mixed comments on the board but La Palette is open on Boxing Day -

How about downtown? I have tickets to the Leafs game on Dec. 26 and am struggling to find restaurants open for dinner near the ACC.

Well, I'm sure this is not what you have in mind but the 360 restaurant at the top of the CN Tower is open on Boxing Day...

Otherwise, you might check out the restaurants in some of the hotels near the ACC, like the Royal York or the InterContinental on Front.

Per Opentable, Sidecar is open - that would be my pick. Kultura is also open, as is Nyood, the Drake Hotel, Forte Bistro, ONE and Tati. Those would all be decent choices, although I've not heard much about the Drake lately.

          try www.opentable.com to find something

If you like Chinese food and want a celebratory meal in a place elevated beyond the standard plastic tablecloth and hurled cutlery, try Lai Wah Heen. It is a nice, upscale space in the Metropolitan Hotel, so it's likely open, the food isn't bad, you won't be offended by the service and the setting is appropriate for a b-day...

A friend invited me for drinks at Ame so I assume they must be open as well.
