Another great meal at Vietnam Palace...
I had 4 friends from out of town visiting last Friday, 2 of whom are vegetarian. After much negotiating over where to go for dinner, I finally suggested Vietnam Palace and it ended up being a huge hit all around.
We shared a mixture of appetizers, including the tofu rolls (my favorite version in the city), stuffed grape leaves, and spring rolls (2 orders vegetarian and 1 meat-filled). Dinner orders ranged from stir-fried tofu and veggies to Pho for the meat lovers, and my favorite recommended to a friend, the Vermicelli Combo, as well as the Bean Thread Noodle Soup with Crabmeat for me. For dessert we had coffee with condensed milk and rainbow ice. Everyone raved, and my friends from Nashville declared they were spoiled for life on Vietnamese food.
Service was wonderful as always - I'd made a Friday night reservation and they were great about having a table ready early for us, and letting us stay no pressure as long as we wanted. The bill shocked everyone at how low it was for the amount and quality of food and beverages consumed - around $130 for 5 people with leftovers to space. Plus the atmosphere got lots of positive comments on how comfortable and cozy it was. This place continues to prove itself as one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

For those who wonder about the vegetarian dishes at Vietnam Palace: i had a delicious lunch there today--papaya salad with tofu and vermicelli with tofu and veggies. Portions are large, service attentive, prices low.

Enjoyed dining with you at Aki for AYCE Sushi. How about another Chowhound get-together dinner at Vietnam Palace? I'm up for any evening other than Thursday or Sunday.

Sounds like a great plan. Sometime after the holidays are over, in January? My best nights are usually Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.

Would there be any interest in doing it this week coming up? Perhaps this Wednesday night, Jan 13th (Tuesday night would work for me as well).
I'm going to be in the area all week (jury duty) so would be easy for me to meet up, actually any night this coming week except for Monday.
