Festive Drink crawl - your favorite places...

  • k

Hi -

My husband and I like to go into the City and walk around/have drinks (think high end bar crawl). Last year we did Moo, Beacon XV, Number 9, Jurys, Clink, Wiskey Park, etc.

Any suggestions for new places (or old favorites) to try !?

thanks in advance -

KTs

  1. I do this once a year. Parker House, Locke Ober, Bristol Lounge, Ritz, Bin Oestera, No. 9. Usually like to make a loop around the common. Google early is very helpful with planning this.

i'm a terrible speller. it's an affliction i've been dealing with for a looong time.

      1. Marliave and Woodward (at The Ames) come to mind.

        1. w hotel to troquet (or stoddard's if it's open) to beacon hill bistro to liberty hotel - that way you can walk through the park and see the all shiny sparkly things.

          1. Thank you for all the new suggestions - I am going to check them out this am -

I have been reading about Market ? never heard/been there ? and also - Eastern Standard (same never been)??. Thoughts on these places ? txs.

Eastern Std belongs at the top of your list (along with Craigie and Drink) but there's not much comparable cocktail-wise in that neighborhood, unless you count the bar at Clio...I would pass on Market until their new place Descent opens up (after the holidays sometime, supposedly)

Thanks for the advice (just did a google map- and didn't realize how far it was) - I'll keep EStd. for a dinner night out.

Drink is a great place - not sure about Craigie !?

                1. re: KTs

Craigie (if you haven't been there) is one of the best cocktail bars in the city although you might have a difficult time getting a seat...and their head bartender (Boston magazine Best Mixologist 2009) is leaving at the end of the month supposedly so you better go soon

                  1. re: barleywino

OK - big bday coming up next month - and Craigie or EStd. are going to be on the list - reviews and menu's of both sound great !!

            2. I hate to admit it, but my girlfriend and I stumbled (literally) into the Top of the Hub as a joke last Friday and had a great time. They might serve the most irresponsibly sized Manhattan in the city..this is something I am ok with. Everyone there, albeit mostly tourists were nicely dressed and the bartenders were local guys from Allston, so we discussed the pro's and con's of the hopefully incoming Kelly's.

Hey - thanks for the confession - I am going to add it to the list for the end of the night - haven't been up there in years -

Yeah, good spot for the end of the night, the view is incredible regardless of the tourists. I think they may have had a fire roaring too, but its possible I dreamt that up. Have fun

I went on a holiday crawl a few weekends ago and one of the spots was TOTH. I didn't think that I'd have a good time but everyone loved the cocktails (I only got a glass of sparkling) and the view was really wonderful. It reminded me that the TOTH is a good place to visit time and again.

Agreed, TOHT was definitly a pleasant surprise
