Dinner for 10, downtown

toitoi Dec 16, 2009 04:39 PM

It''s sorta a reunion, so lotsa chit-chat and one-up-manships amongst folks that haven't seen each other for 5 or 6 years.

Bottega Louie comes to mind, but it's not an intimate spot, and we probably wouldn't be able to hear one another.

Haven't been to any spots at LA Alive - anything there?

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Bottega Louie is too noisy for what you are looking for. You should get a private room.

Here are some suggestions in order of preference if price is an issue:

Daily Grill Downtown - They have a $29 2 course special which also includes a glass of wine. $350 minimum bill for the Boardroom. No corkage.

Chinatown - Several of the larger restaurants have private rooms. Minimum charge will be $300 to $500 depending on the restaurant. I recommend Ocean Seafood. Normally no corakage.

Patina Group - No corkage for their restaurants. Zucca and Nic & Stef's Steakhouse have private rooms. No Corkage.

McCormick & Schimck's has private rooms and a "clubby decor". I have not been impressed with their seafood. Not bad, but not great.

LA Live - Trader Vic's Wolfgang Puck and The Farm have private rooms. I don't know about the food or minimums.

Pricey Italian with Private rooms - Cicada, Drago Centro (noisy if not in private room)

Pricey Steak with Private room - The Palm

New American with Private room - NOE in the Omni hotel

Little Tokyo - Several of the Japanese restaurants in Little Tokyo have private rooms, but I cannot make any specific recommendations.
