Fun Place for Drinks with Out-of-Towners?

My best friend and her husband are visiting from Los Angeles, and I'm not sure where to take them on Saturday night. My friend loves to dance (and so do I), but I'm not sure about the rest of the group we'll be with. Is there anywhere with a fun and energetic atmosphere (good for people in their early thirties) for drinks? The dance floor is optional, but my friend falls asleep in quiet pubs and I'm not so into "see-and-be-seen" kinds of places.

Location-wise, I'm thinking Queen West or Ossington, but I can't put my finger on the perfect spot. I am in no way attached to these neighbourhoods - one of us lives in Riverdale, so as long as we're somewhere in the city proper, we'll be happy.

  1. How about the Gladstone Hotel? They have karaoke on Saturday nights which is always a blast, and a serviceable bar. It starts at 10, but you should get there early if you want to get a table.
