Looking for Dupont Circle recommendation

Ideally with good parking, easily found, and a great selection of Cabernet....any suggestions?

  1. Not sure about their wine selection, but Bistro du Coin on Connecticut Avenue is easy to find and has yummy french food. I don't believe they have a parking lot or valet parking. But, especially after 6:30pm, you should be able to find parking on the street.

    1. in Cleveland Park, best wine selection with a relatively inexpensive parking lock on the corner is Dino. Since you're driving, it's worth the extra 10 minutes in the car.

Actually, Dino is a block from one of the Red Line stops (I forget which), if the OP cares to go that way.

Cleveland Park Red Line East Exit.

There's only street parking, but I had a very good meal recently at Firefly on New Hampshire Ave, and the wine list there is quite good and reasonably priced. Also near Dupont, I like the Tabard Inn on N Street. You might also consider Vidalia on M Street, which has valet parking.

There are, of course, also the usual steak houses, Mortons, Ruths Chris, Sam & Harry's etc., which if nothing else, will all have large and expensive lists of Cab.

      2. The best tip for parking around Dupont is the fact that you cannot park at most meters before 6:30 because of rush hour. Try to get in the vicinity of your destination by 6:20 and grab a prime spot at 6:25

        1. I third the rec for Dino. It meets your criteria very nicely. And would warn you off Bistro du Coin, which has very mediocre food, piercing noise levels, and notoriously abusive/neglectful service.

Really? I'm sorry to hear that. The one time I went to Bistro du Coin, I had good/great food as well as fine and friendly service. The noise level is a bit up, but I found it lively, not piercing.

I'll wholeheartedly agree with you on Bistro du Coin. Everything we've had there has been terrible, and agree about the noise and the service. I think Dino is a nice choice.

Ditto on the awful service. I brought out of town guests there the other night and it was embarrassing. Food was not memorable.

              2. Not sure about Cabernets in particular, but Eola has a very interesting selection of wines, and very good food.

I'm going to Eola tonight for dinner. Any suggestions? Other Dupont restaurant ideas include Veritas Wine Bar (small plates, great wine), Mourayo (Greek) and Pesce (may not meet your wine needs). Not sure why others are talking about Cleveland Park, but if you're willing to go outside of the Dupont area, a closer option may be Posto and Cork (both on 14th). I don't own a car, so I admittedly don't know about parking. I know Posto has valet.

I would only go to Urbana if you like your restaurant loud and your service poor.
