Scottsdale - place to purchase buche de noel?

jdubboston Dec 14, 2009 06:13 AM

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bakery that might make this wonderful dessert for our Christmas dinner? In doing a little searching for 'french' bakeries, I've come across a few that look like that a) they may do it anyway or b) might be capable of creating it for me: Amy's, La Madeleine and Essence. Any thoughts on these three? Or alternative ideas?

Not sure of the exact address where we'll be staying (a family member), but we are willing to drive for it.

Thanks in advance!

Tammie Coe cakes on 40th Street near Camelback makes one. That's not a far drive at all from Scottsdale. We had another cake from her this past week that was sensational.

Essence Bakery (in downtown Tempe) does make chocolate mocha ones by special order (I just got an email ad); they serve 6-8 and cost $35. I've never tried their version, but I really like pretty much everything else I've had from there. If you end up choosing theirs, don't leave without a few macarons!
