For dinner for two people for a big birthday, which would your recommend? We are not meat eaters but are very happy with pasta or seafood. And a great dessert is important, too!

I've only eaten at Marea, but it was wonderful. We sat at a table for two against the back wall {where the display cases are} and it was private, even though it was packed. The food was amazing and the service was very good as well. I would like to try Scarpetta the next time we're in town, but it's going to be hard to get my husband to give up Marea.

I have eaten at both and would pick Scarpetta. Great ambiance, service and food. Amazing.

Can't really go wrong with either, but I think for a celebration I'd choose Marea.

Scarpetta is more about big portions, with a lot of butter and oil in their polenta and pasta. Marea is more delicate, more elegant, and bigger flavors from the better and higher priced ingredients.
