Family gathering, 25 guests, Sunday night suggestions

Any recommendations on a fun, lively, quaint restaurant (downtown area) for a Sunday night dinner for 25. Private room not necessary. Would prefer family style food...Italian, Latin or Continental. We will be a fun, loud bunch and will need a place with great food, atmosphere and perhaps a bar area open on Sunday. No budget.

  1. If you're a loud bunch, for the sake of the other guests, it'd be best to find a restaurant with a private area. Fieramosca Trattoria has such an area upstairs that will accomodate your gathering. This is a long established cozy restaurant at Prince Arthur & Bedford that serves decent Italian meals. More info here: (note: I think their menu prices are outdated, if you know what I mean).

    1. 7 Numbers on the Danforth is usually good for family style and they can sit you in the back area as a big group if you give them the heads up.

      1. Harlem, Harlem, Harlem!!...sounds like exactly what you're looking for.
I believe they have a $35 prix fix menu that they serve family style....i'm sure they will be able to accomodate you either upstairs or downstairs....

How about Gio Rana's? They have a private room, will serve family style, has fairly good food and is a pretty loud place to begin with. Not sure if they are open Sunday's though.

Thanks guys...I will definately check-out Harlem and Gio Rana's. From what I can tell, either of them will work just fine! I am not a fan of Fieramosca or 7 Numbers. Will keep you posted.

I like Harlem, but if you go, you should be prepared to settle in for a long time. I find their service pleasant, but VERY slow and gets slower as the meal ends, when you are ready to leave and pay up. Not trying to deter you from going, just good to know.

If you don't like 7 Numbers you likely won't like Gio's. 7's owner used to the chef at Gio's when it was on Yonge. Very similar menu/scene.

I doubt you can get 25 people in Harlem. It's not that big (weird layout) and upstairs is a nightclub.

            3. Globe Earth might be an option- they're open Sunday nights, and it's a big space.
The website mentions they can accomodate groups:

              1. though it has been a while since we had a large party at Mezza Notte (Yonge St. ,north of Sheppard in Willowdale) they did a very nice private room for about 25.
Perhaps someone out there can confirm if their food is still good quality?
If not and you are in that neck of the woods, pop in for dinner to try.
