Emergency! Best pigs blood rice cake in Rowland Heights area?

Mr Taster Dec 12, 2009 11:24 AM

We just came from a grueling pharmacy school interview and are in dire need of comfort food, in the form of pigs blood rice cake. Stewed, roasted, doesn't matter. Thanks! Mr Taster

I can't help you but I will say that this may be the best subject line of 2009. =)

    Hope the exam went well.

Class 302 or Happy Dolphin Bay.

Wherever you go, avoid Jurassic ... it's greasy and a mistake waiting to happen.

Thanks again for the rec. We wen to Dolphin Bay in the Shun Fat supermarket plaza on Colima. Bloody rice cakes arrived, little rectangular cubes (about 1 inch long by 1/4 inch thick) fried to crispy golden edges. The flavor was right-- tastes just like they do back in Taiwan. The exterior texture was good too, nice and crispy-chewy. But as you know, in Taiwan they tend to be sold in larger slabs, and the result is that there is a nice chewiness to the interior of the rice cake that contrasts with the crispy fried exterior. Because the cubes were so small, it was 90% crisp, 10% chew. All in all it scratched the itch though, and we left satisfied and a little less stressed out :)

            Thanks!

Ah, sorry about that. Wished that it could've been like it is on the motherland!

Of course, I suppose you could buy it and prepare yourself .... hmm, now I'm giving myself ideas ...

My Lovely Tasting Assistant was accepted to pharmacy school!

I attribute it to the pigs blood rice cake working it's bloody magic.

        Thanks, ipse! :)
