Wine Refrigeration Unit Disposal?
I have had a 220-bottle wine storage unit in my apartment for years and love it. The refrigeration unit recently failed on me and I was faced with either hiring a repair tech for ~$250 just to visit or buying a new one for $350, so I bought a new one and replaced the old one myself. However, I can't figure out what to do with the old one now. I can't take it to the dump without going through some seemingly complicated freon-removal process, and PG&E won't come pick it up, either (they only do that for refrigerators of larger sizes). I have called some local wine stores that sell units (K&L, The Wine Club) and they didn't have any idea, either. Does any one have any suggestions? Thanks.
I would put it up on Freecycle.

Yeah, I had the same problem in August. Custom Alloy Scrap in Oakland let me toss it in their bin without charging me anything. My unit failed because the freon leaked out so paying to dispose of it would have been ridiculous.
If you're in Los Angeles or know someone driving up from there, you can get a Vinotemp unit for $99 on eBay.
